ABOUT GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS

This game is an action 3rd 3D game of the GTA and 5th series of single or multiplayer of the Grand Theft Auto developed and produced by Rockstar north and Rockstar games respectively. Its distributors are Rockstar games, JP Capcom and Valve Corporation using a Render ware engine.

It has 3.0 version and was released on the PlayStation 2 on :26th October 2004 in North America; Microsoft Windows on 7th June 2005 in North America, 10th June 2005 in Europe; and on the Xbox on 7th June 2005 in North America. San Andreas is available on DVD and through download.

STORYLINE OF SAN ANDREAS

This game focuses on the three metropolitan cities: Los Santos, San Fierro and Los Venturas of San Andreas, a fictional state. It revolves around a gang member named Carl “CJ” Johnson who ha returned home from the Liberty City to Los Santos after knowing about his mother’s murder’s comes home to find both his family and his old gang, the Grove Street Families in a complete disarray and begins to unravel the story of his mother’s murder at the time of reestablishing his gang and exploring his business.

Then he is confronted by the cops Frank Ten penny and Eddie Pulaski who are the enemies of his gang and load him in the back of their car where he overhears that the officers are chosing him for the death of the Officer Pendlebury.Tenpenny informs Carl that he dare not leave the city otherwise they would hand over the weapon to the non corrupt police who will jail him thereby throwing him out of the car. From there he cycles to Grove Street to find his mother’s house in a mess

REVIEWS FOR SAN ANDREAS

The game was free from controversies and got very good comments but because of the “Hot Coffee” sex minigame it was regarded as adult and rerated. In the IGN’s Best of 2004, this game was awarded Play station2 Game of the year, Best action game on PlayStation 2 and Best story for PlayStation. In the Game spot’s Best and Worst of 2004, it was given the award of Best play station game of the year, Best action adventure game under reader’s choice, Best PS2 action adventure game under reader’s choice, PS2 game of the year, Best voice acting and the Funniest Game. In the 2004 Spike TV Video Game awards, it was given the Game of the year, Best performance by a male, best action game and Best soundtrack. It was given 95 out of 100 by Meteoritic standing on the 5th position, Game spot rated it 9.6 on 10, 1UP.com network gave it a 10/10.With its sales, by March 3, 2005, this game sold over 12 million units for the PS2 alone, till September 26, 2007 it was the best selling video game in the US with 8.6 million copies sold, 

FEATURES OF GTA: SAN ANDREAS

It comprises elements of third person shooters and driving and like before features open world gaming along with gang wars, car customization and even character personalization with the player being able to walk, run, swim, climb, jump and use weapons in various forms of hand to hand combat. You can even steal or rather import vehicles. You can unlock many areas and content. The police react to small havocs whereas SWAT teams, FBI and the military respond to higher levels of havoc.

As a player you can participate in side missions of dropping taxi cab passengers, robbery missions, putting off fires, driving injured to the hospital, fighting crime, pimping missions, truck/train driving missions. It has the option of multiplayer, spray paint tags, hidden camera shots, horseshoes and oysters to discover in the game. The player can purchase clothing, tattoos, haircuts and even accessories. The police now not only attacks than player but others committing crime and when the player beats off a pedestrian to death, his gang members shot at him for his help. You eat, exercise and even have your girlfriend to look after. CJ also speaks and has about 4200 dialogues in spoken language with the pedestrians responding to them negatively or positively. 

Your car can be modified and upgraded by money means including paintjobs, nitrous oxide, rims, body kits, hydraulics, side skirts, bumpers and stereo system.

Home invasion lets you make lots of money which is possible by stealing a robbery van to sneak into a house and cart off the valuables or shake out the occupants.

Mini games include the basketball, pool, rhythm based challenges, casino games, and gambling etc. If you fall into debt during gambling, then a mysterious person calls you and shoots you the second time he calls u if you have not been able to repay the debt.

CARS FOR THE GAME

The game accommodates around 200 types of vehicles including bicycles, dune buggies, trains, combine harvesters, a street sweeper, hovercraft etc. Cars have nitrous oxide and aesthetic modifications. It should be noted here that off road vehicles work better in rough environments whereas racing cars work better on tracks or streets; Jets need a runway to land; helicopters can land anywhere and are slower. This game has several boats that are highly modified, almost 11 planes and 9 helicopters.

CHARACTERS OF SAN ANDREAS

Carl “CJ” Johnson is a young African American gang member played by Young Malay.

The voice of the actors are from stars eg. David Cross, Andy Dick, Samuel L. Jackson, James Woods, Peter Fonda, Charlie Murphy, Frank Vincent, Chris Penn, Danny Dyer, Sara Tanaka, William Fichtner, rappers Ice T, Chuck D, Frost, MC Eiht and the musicians George Clinton, Axle Rose and Shaun Ryder.

COMPARABILITY WITH OTHER SERIES

Most of the location, characters and elements are similar to the previous series.

Catalina, the main antagonist in GTA III accompanies CJ for the robberies.

Claude, the patrogonist in GTA III makes a short appearance as Catalina’s new boy friend after she dumps Carl. They then compete in a street race where Claude and Catalina lose.

Ken Roseberg and Ken Paul also feature in many missions who are from the Vice City.

Many characters are from the previous series till GTA III as it was heard that from GTA IV a new series started.

SOUNDTRACK

The game includes very famous soundtracks by: The Who, Toto, Faith No More, Depeche Mode, James Brown, Soundgarden, KISS, Rage Against the Machine, Danzig, Cream, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Snoop Dogg, N.W.A., 2Pac, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Stone Temple Pilots, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Ozzy Osbourne and many more. It also has tracks played from the major artists: K-Jah West (dub and reggae), CSR (New Jack Swing, Modern Soul, Hot Adult Contemporary), Radio X (alternative rock and grunge rock), Radio Los Santos (gangsta rap), SF-UR (house), Bounce FM (funk), K-DST (classic rock), K-Rose (country) and Playback FM (classic hip hop).

CONTROVERSIES OF THE SAN ANDREAS

The main controversy for this game was the HOT COFFEE mod released by Patrick Wildenborg. The name meant the way the game eluded to the sex scenes ahereas in the unmodified part, the player has taken his girlfriend to the front door when she asks him for “some coffee”. As soon as he agrees, the camera stays outside moving here and there with moaning noises. After you install the patch, users can enter into the house of the player’s girlfriend and engage in a fully clothed sexual intercourse mini game. This gave it a recall and adult rating.

THE POPULARISATION OF SAN ANDREAS

This game was publicized by releasing a 26 minute movie before the main release along with the San Andreas soundtrack on a DVD. This chronicles the events till when Carl learns about his mother’s death and returns to Los Santos.

You can enable the AK 47, Tec 9, Sawn Off shotgun and Molotov Cocktails by completing all 100 tags in Los Santos.

You can enable 50% health by completing level 12 of paramedic mission.

You can enable fireproof by completing the level 12 of fire fighter mission.

You can begin pimping sessions by entering a Broadway and pressing R3.

Drive the prostitutes to their destinations for the big crash and then they will pay you rather than you paying them.

For the BF injection, you need to get a first place at the DIRT RING RACE.

For the Super GT, you need to get all the Bronze medals in driving schools.

For Dune Buggy, you will have to beat the score of 25 at the Dirt Ring

For the hot knife, you should get all the gold medals at the driving school.

To get the jetpack, you will have to complete the airstrip asset at the Las Ventures.

For the NRG 500, you have to get all the gold medals in bike school.

For the rustler, you will have to get all bronze medals in pilot school.

For the freeway, you will have to get all bronze awards in bike school.

For the hotring racer, you need to get the first place in 8-track.

For the Monster truck, you have to beat the 8-track tournament.

For the stunt plane, you need to get all silver medals at the pilot school.

For the medic outfit, pimp outfit, racing outfit or police outfit, you need 100% with Katie 

Zhan, Denise Robinson, Michelle and Barbara respectively.

If you have dated Barbara then you can keep your weapon after getting busted.

If you have dated Katie then you can keep your weapon after getting wasted.
