Skype is one of many companies (others include AOL, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Cisco) which have cooperated with the Chinese government in implementing a system of Internet censorship in the People’s Republic of China. Niklas Zennström, chief executive to Skype, told reporters that its joint venture partner in China is operating in compliance with domestic law. “TOM Online had implemented a text filter, which is what everyone else in that market is doing,” said Zennström. “Those are the regulations,” he said. “I may like or not like the laws and regulations to operate businesses in the UK or Germany or the US, but if I do business there I choose to comply with those laws and regulations. I can try to lobby to change them, but I need to comply with them. China in that way is not different.”

Since late September, users in China trying to download the Skype software are redirected to the TOM site from which a modified Chinese version can be downloaded. Activists in China are warning about the possibility that TOM’s versions have or will have more trojan capability.

CRACKS FOR CALL OF DUTY 1

Place the following string 

+set thereisacow 1337 +set developer 1 +set sv_cheats 1 +set monkeytoy 0 at the end of the command in the shortcut to the Call of Duty game executable. 

Press the tilde (~) key during the play to drop the dev-console to enter cheats that are as follows:

god – Gives you Invincibility

give all – Gets you all weapons, items, and ammo

give ammo – Refills your ammo for all weapons

give health – Gives you full health

noclip – Lets you fly through the walls

notarget – All enemies ignore you

Note that if the game says “sv_cheats are read only” then you may enter setrandom sv_cheats 1 in the console before activating codes. If the game says “cheats are not enabled on this server” enter spdevmap before activating codes.

THE MULTIPLAYER MODE OF CALL OF DUTY 1

There are total six multiplayer game modes in Call of Duty: Behind Enemy Lines, where Allied soldiers stay alive for a long duration; Deathmatch, a free-for-all, every man for himself; Team Deathmatch, a deathmatch game with teams; Retrieval, Search and Destroy; and Headquarters with the 1.2 patch where radios were held by different different teams.

There is  a feature of “Killcam,” through which a defeated player could view the latest 5 seconds of his life through the point of their opponent who had killed him which meant as an identification to the cheaters.

REVIEWS BY THE CRITICS FOR CALL OF DUTY 1

The Allgame gave it a 5 on 5, Edge gave it a 7 on 10,  GamePro awarded it 5 of 5, GameSpot gave it a 9 of 10, IGN gave it a 9.3 of 10. 

Call of Duty received 91% average on Metacritic and Game Rankings.

It won “Game of the Year” for 2003 from several reviewers.

It was the recipient of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences 2004 “Game of the Year” award.

It even defeated the games like Command & Conquer: Generals, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, and Rise of Nations.

The game received “Computer Game of the Year” and “Computer First Person Action Game of the Year”.

It was also nominated for “Outstanding Innovation in Computer Gaming”, “Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition”, and “Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design” in the Interactive Achievement Awards.

Call of Duty was nominated for “Best Game” at the 2004 Game Developers Choice Awards.

The award won Infinity Ward the “Rookie Studio of the Year”.

Chuck Russom was presented with the “Excellence in Audio” award for his work on the game.

His only negative critique was on the short length of the game, which many reviewers pointed out.
